The Real Signs of Christ’s Return

What are the signs of Christ Return?  We are told in Scripture that no man can know the day or hour.  While Christ comes as thief in the night, we are also told that Christians are not in darkness, that this day should overtake them as a thief.  How can Christians not be taken by surprise when the day or hour is not known?  They know by being familiar with the signs and seasons of his return.  Jesus gives his disciples the parable of the fig tree to impress on them this lesson.  He says that when a fig tree’s branches becomes tender and put forth leaves, people can tell that the season of summer is near.  He tells them that if they observe the following signs below, they can know that his return is near- at the door.  What are these major signs?  They are listed below.
Heavenly Signs that immediately precede Jesus return

  • The Sun will be darkened
  • The Moon will not give it’s Light
  • The Stars will fall from the Sky
  • The powers of Heaven will be shaken

We are told in Scripture that these four signs will immediately precede the coming of Jesus Christ on the clouds of heaven.  We are told that the generation that lives to see these signs will certainly not pass away before Christ’s return.   These are not signs anyone has to worry about missing.  Who would not notice the sun going out?  Who would not notice the stars falling from the sky?  These cataclysmic events will greatly distress people.  The seas and waves will be roaring from the heavens being shaken.  When Believers observe these signs occurring, Jesus tells them to look up and  lift up their heads, for the time of their redemption draws near (Luke 21:28).
When Christians see these signs, they must be ready to depart.  We are warned in Scripture to remember Lot’s wife.  Upon fleeing the cities of Sodom and Gommorah, Lot and his family were warned by the angels not to look back.  Lot’s wife looked back and she was turned into a pillar of salt.  Those who fail to be ready will miss the boat altogether and will not be allowed to enter at a later date.  God warns believers of this when He recounts the parable of the wise and foolish virgins to them.  God will hold his followers responsible for recognizing the season of his return and be ready to depart when these signs occur.  Christians will not have the Lord’s day overtake them as a thief because they will recognize the season of his return by the heavenly signs that immediately precede them.  They will recognize this season even when they do not know the specific day or hour of his return.  You now know these heavenly signs for yourself.
If these specific signs do not occur, any announcement of his return is just a false alarm.  Believers are warned in Scripture not to believe such pronouncements.  For we are told there will be many false christs arising before the end.  Some of them will perform great signs and wonders. Christians are warned beforehand by Jesus of these people.  The real Christ’s return will be visible to everyone and He will come rapidly.  For as the lightening comes from the east and flashes to the west, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. Watch for them and be ready to go should they occur.
