How can a christian have eternal security? Eternal security involves two basic
things. The first involves knowing the
promises and love of God. God’s will is
that all men know the truth and come to be saved. He is patient with all. He does not want any to perish, but everyone
to change and love like Him. God has
demonstrated his own love to us in that while we were still sinners, Christ
died for us. He would rather die than
not see you in Heaven. If God did this
while all of us were still His enemies, how much more would He accept us if you
are prepared to make your peace with him?
So great is His unfailing love.
If the Lord delights in your intentions, He will make your steps
firm. Though you stumble, you will not
fall because the Lord will uphold you with his hand. The Christian’s security can rest in the
promise of God and not their own performance.
If you stumble, you get back up and continue toward Christ. To those who love Him and intend to
persevere, God sets an open door of Salvation that no one can shut. If you love God and want to be saved, God
will ensure that you make it. God works
out everything for His own ends. All who
call on the name of the Lord will be saved.
No one can be snatched out of his hand.
Knowing God’s perfect love can cast out all fear. He who fears has not been made perfect in
love.
The second basic element needed for eternal security involves
possessing the Love of God yourself. God
may open a door of salvation to you that no one can shut, but you still have to
walk thru that door. God may work out
all the circumstances that you may seek him and perhaps find him, but that is
where Predestination ends. God will not
make you a robot; He will not make the choice for you. God’s
will is that all men be saved, but not everyone will. Satan may want all men to fall, but not
everyone will. The Devil made me do it
argument will not absolve you of your moral responsibility- your choice. Man’s will can be influenced but never
controlled. For a loving God has granted
man the gift of free will. The same
light that softens some, hardens others. If you hear his voice, do not harden your
heart. The potter shapes best what He can with the
clay He is working with. He makes the
best out of what your free-will allows. Personal
beliefs may set the course of your life, but beliefs in themselves do not have
to be set in stone. The Parable of the
sower teaches men that you have to have a soft, deep, and undistracted heart to
be transformed and bear fruit. If you
Love God and others, you have fulfilled the Law. If you love him, you will obey his
command. The problem only arises when
your heart is not in it. Put your heart
into knowing God’s love, learn his ways, and make them your own and you will
have nothing to worry about regarding salvation.
