The Sixth Seal: Why People should fear God’s wrath

Stay off God’s bad side so He does not cut you off.

Few people fully recognize and appreciate the power of God’s anger. Contemporary Religion has a habit of stressing only the benevolent nature of God; in doing this, people fail to appreciate the dangers of being on God’s bad side. God may indeed be willing to forgive sin and be slow to anger, but He does not acquit those who continue to practice wickedness. In wrath God remembers mercy. God defers his anger so that people are not cut off. Those who believe and repent will find forgiveness and their sin will not lead to their death. For those who fail to change, God’s wrath will only remain on them. This same mercy and kindness that soften some will hardens others. The table of the wicked will become their snare; their well-being becomes their trap. Their complacency will destroy them. Wishful thinking will keep them from seeing their real fate. Their eyes are darkened so they cannot see this. Persisting in their sin, they will only store up wrath for themselves. They think they are okay when they are really not. This is How God reserves the wicked for a day of doom. Because the wicked are not cleansed of their filth, their ways will persist until God’s fury is poured out on them full strength. Just as He promises to save those who trust in Him, God promises vengeance and wrath for his enemies. You can count on God giving you what you deserve. Few people really understand how those who love the most tend to tolerate the least. You do not want to be on God’s bad side. For the wrath He will exhibit in the end will match the fear that is due his name.

People will come to appreciate this wrath when He pours out his wrath full strength on the sons of disobedience. God may not take pleasure in the death of the wicked; He would rather see them repent and live. This does not mean that God will hesitate to unleash His wrath when warranted. God will make an example of the wicked so that all the righteous will fear. The world will not be able to endure His indignation. So why does God still delay his wrath today? For the sake of one righteous person, God has promised to spare an entire city of people. A single righteous Christian can stand in the gap between a city and certain destruction. As wickedness grows like a weed and chokes out the lives of every believer, God will have no more reason to spare. God will make an end of the wicked when there is no one else left to be salvaged and redeemed. When the last Christian appointed to die is gone, the party will be over for the wicked. They have provoked him by their ways and He will eventually remove their deeds from before his sight. History has shown God do this before. He is certainly capable of doing it again

The Day of the Lord will be a massive killing spree of unrepentant sinners.

The Day of the Lord will come with cruelty, wrath, and fierce anger. He will come to make the land desolate and to destroy the sinners from within it. He will punish the world for it’s evil and iniquity. He will put an end to the pride of the wicked. His fury will be against all the nations. He will turn out the lights. The sun will be darkened, the moon will not give it’s light. He will shake both the heavens and the earth; He will move them out of their place. The very Heavens will be rolled up like a scroll. All the host of heaven shall fall as late figs from a tree. The fallen angels will join the wicked of the earth in those days. Together they will be rounded up and punished for their evil. Many will rise to fight the Lord on the great day of God almighty. They will only take their places with the dead bodies of men whom God slays in his anger and fury. The Day of the Lord will be a massive killing spree; a genocide of sinners who refuse to repent of their evil. The Lion of Judah will roar from on high. He will leave his lair and will tear them to pieces. He will stretch out his hand and slaughter them all. He will trample them down in fury. He will tread them under as grapes. He will squash them like little grapes in the great winepress of God’s wrath. God’s violent whirlwind will fall on the heads of the wicked. He will rain down great hailstones in fury at the wicked. He will lay waste their dwelling places. He will put them to the sword. His garments will be stained with their blood. Their money and wealth will not be able to save them. Men will take to hiding in caves in those days. They will be hiding for their lives. The slain shall litter the ground from one end of the earth to the other. No one will lament their passing. No one will bury them. The stench of their corpses will rise like refuse; their blood will be poured out like dust and soak the mountains. The birds of the air will feast on their flesh. They shall become as refuse on the ground. God will fully repay them for all their abominations. He has not forgotten their crimes. The great and terrible day of the Lord will be bitter indeed. He will make speedy riddance of those who dwell in the land. He will utterly destroy them. He will make the existence of men rarer than fine gold. The fierce anger of the Lord will not relent until He has accomplished this. They and their dwelling places will be no more. With an overflowing flood He will make an utter end of their place. He will blot out their names and memory from under heaven.

Death will not end the fiery indignation of God for the wicked.

Of course, death will not end the suffering for the wicked. The wrath inflicted by God on them will only go on and on. A fire is kindled by his anger and it shall burn to the lowest Hell. His wrath will burn like fire. He will pour out his fury like fire. His anger will burn and not be quenched. It will blaze like a flaming fire devouring all around. The land shall be devoured by the fire of his jealousy. The land will become burning pitch and it’s streams will become pitch. The dust will be turned to brimstone. He shall make them a fiery oven. He shall heap coals of fire on their heads. They will be fuel for the fire. He will consume them in the fires of his wrath. The fire shall devour them and swallow them up. They will be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and the Lamb. It shall not be quenched night or day; it’s smoke shall ascend forever from generation to generation. No one shall pass through it forever and ever. The ax is already laid at the root of the trees. Any tree that does not bear fruit will be thrown into the fire. As gold or silver is melted in a furnace, so shall you be melted when God pours out his fury upon you. Who would be able to stand before such fiery indignation? Of course such wrath only comes on those who refuse to leave their evil ways and repent. Christ came to save men from God’s wrath to come. Christ promises to deliver us from such wrath. Change your ways and follow God, perhaps you may be hidden in the day of the Lord’s anger.
